Marine biotechnology is an inter-disciplinary research area which has emerged as a unique academic subject. Marine biotechnology applications in various sectors are bio-prospecting, production of novel products by improving the growth of marine organisms, particularly food and feed products and diagnostics and biosensors. Considering the vast scope and innovative developments in the field of Marine Biotechnology, this book aims to bring out a comprehensive update of recent developments and emerging dimensions. This book has 16 chapters contributed by senior experts to young scientists working in the field of marine biotechnology. The chapters were well-focused on recent advances including marine microbial diversity, metagenomics, bioinformatics tools in metagenomics, in silico approaches in marine biodiscovery, marine toxins, marine natural products, marine microbial enzymes, marine biosurfactants, marine antibiotics and technological advances in fish cell lines. Dr. A. S. Ninawe is a distinguished scientist in Marine Sciences. He is presently as Advisor of Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology (India). He was a Vice-Chancellor of Maharashtra Animal & Fishery Sciences University, Nagpur, during 2007-2010. He has published 130 papers/reports and 7 books in Marine Sciences.
