Tilted implants have revolutionized the practice of implant dentistry. They provide good treatment solution for patients with edentulism and are associated with predictable outcomes. The use of tilted implants to rehabilitate atrophic maxilla and mandible present a viable alternative to bone augmentation procedures in the posterior area and allow a good functional and aesthetic satisfaction to patients. Regular tilted, zygoma and pterygoid implants are treatment modalities that can be used as alternative to major augmentation procedures such as maxillary sinus grafting procedures and ridge augmentation procedures for restoration of edentulous atrophic maxilla and mandible. In addition to bypassing the anatomical constraints, the tilting of posterior implants in a distal manner results in an increase in the length of the prosthetic table thereby allowing better load distribution, and reducing the cantilever lengths. Hence tilted implants are boon to implant dentistry.
