Smile is a curve that sets everything straight and is an important element of facial expression and physical attractiveness. In our modern competitive society, pleasing appearance often means the difference between success and failure in both our personal and professional life. One of the important features, predicting the attractiveness of the face is the Smile and the most often the need for esthetics motivates the patient to seek dental treatment. Beauty is power, a smile is its sword-Charles Reade. Prosthodontist is probably the best person to identify and modify the quality of smile. A good smile design would naturally and effortlessly blend with the rest of the face to provide an esthetic and functional complex. The true understanding of all aspects of comprehensive esthetic/cosmetic dentistry and the integration of the philosophical triad of health, function and beauty will assist the dentist in providing optimal dental care. In this book, I will elaborate the principles of smile design, and role of technology in changing the smile.

Dr. Ranjana Balla holds a B.D.S. from Indira Gandhi Government Dental College Jammu, J&K (2014), and an M.D.S. from Maharaja Ganga Singh Dental College and Research Centre Sriganganagar, Rajasthan (2018).She is a senior lecturer in the Department of Prosthodontics in Adesh Institute of Dental Sciences and Research Centre Bathinda, Punjab.
