In todays era of regenerative medicine and tissue engineering, biologically based therapies are needed to regenerate or repair natural dental tissues. Advances in the understanding of tooth development in molecular biology and cell biology have set a stage for efforts to develop strategies for regenerating dentin and pulp. This book beautifully reviews events occurring during the normal development of dentin-pulp complex. An insight into the basic knowledge of tissue engineering, including key elements i.e. stem cells, growth factors and scaffolds is presented. Latest research oriented advances in regeneration of dental tissues from the use of simple blood clot revascularization to more complex treatments like creation of tissue engineered dental pulp scaffolds in laboratory and implanting them into cleaned and shaped root canals has been discussed. As regeneration of dentin-pulp complex is still in its budding stage, various challenges encountered during these procedures have also been highlighted. We hope that this book would be an interesting and informative experience for the readers seeking knowledge in this field of recreating and repairing the lost/damaged dental tissues.
