Dramatic improvements in scientific knowledge and technology in oral health means that the potential now exists to eliminate the major disorders. Number of advances in prevention pointing out that prevention of oral diseases has assumed importance in recent years. Shift in focus from treatment of oral diseases to prevention has taken place. A lot of research has been directed towards efforts to develop methods of prevention. These range from simple to highly sophisticated techniques. The recent innovative and exciting techniques have shown good research successes that most likely will be helpful for early disease intervention in the future. It will dramatically alter the way in which dentists diagnose, intervene, treat and manage oral diseases, with major benefits to the overall health of their patients.
