The replacement of human teeth by implants in the alveolar process has been attempted from thousand years and hence its history dates back into the ancient era where civilizations attempted the procedure of implantation with whatever limited resources they had. From there to modern concept osseointegration and implantology has traveled a long way. The purpose of this book is to provide an insight into the concept of osseointegration and scrutinize its use and performance. This objective can be met with the understanding of sea of literature available regarding factors that affect osseointegration, discussing the ideal materials, design, patient selection, and surgical considerations. So the prompt to explore the concept has resulted in the culmination of this manuscript in the form of this book.

Dr. Manumeet Kaur Bhathal is a prosthodontist and implantologist. She did her graduation in 2008 and completed her post graduation in prosthodontics in 2013. She is working as an Associate Professor in a dental college and is consultant prosthodontist and implantologist in various hospitals.
