Prior to placing a dental implant, a prudent planning must be performed. Several factors are considered to ensure the successful placement of implants. The dimensions, locations, and positioning of implants should all be determined prior to surgery. Thus, it is necessary to evaluate osseous structures in detail and develop a vision of the restorative or prosthetic outcome, so that available bone volume and density, as well as anatomic limitations, are exposed. To uncover all these details a detailed radiographic guide and interpretation is mandatory, where Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) or 3 dimensional imaging plays a pivotal role.
