This book covers the topic on interaction between host defense mechanism and micriobiota. This interaction throws light on the pathogenesis of periodontal disease which begins with entry, attachment, proliferation of microorganisms to which host releases a series of mediators which act against invading microorganisms thus initiating the inflammatory cascade which in turn the initiate the spectrum of periodontal disease.
