Malocclusion can occur in three planes of space.There are various methods available to gain space. The contemporary treatment modality to gain space for correction of malocclusion is extraction and non-extraction.The current trend in orthodontics again aims for non extraction treatment approach wherever feasible. The fourth envelop of discrepancy i.e. TADs has changed the scenario of gaining space. Now methods for gaining space could be relooked from different angles.
