Throughout, a womans life cycle, hormonal influences affect therapeutic decision making in periodontics. Oral health care professionals need to have greater awareness of and better capabilities for dealing with hormonal influences associated with reproductive process. Periodontal and oral tissues may be altered creating diagnostic dilemmas. This book, therefore, compiles the literature of gingival and periodontal changes in pregnancy and their clinical impact and how the clinician must recognize, customize and appropriately alter periodontal therapy according to individual womans needs based on the stage of her life cycle.
