Beschreibung

Impression materials are largely used to record the geometry of hard and soft dental tissue during dental treatment or to record the relations of teeth with the surrounding tissues. The impression is a crucial part of the process of constructing a well-fitting prosthesis;it is imperative that it copies the exact topography of the recorded site and translates it accurately to its cast.To achieve this, the impression material must be both accurate and stable. The most widely used materials are polyether and vinyl polysiloxane (addition silicone). Polyether, introduced in the 1960s, has long been popular among clinicians for providing dimensionally stable impressions. Vinyl polysiloxane, was introduced in the 1970s,its wide spread was due to its dimensional accuracy and stability.Recently a new generation hybrid impression material called vinyl siloxanether has been developed with a back bone derived from both polyether and vinyl polysiloxane impression materials. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the dimensional accuracy of the newly introduced vinyl siloxanether impression material in comparison with the commonly used polyether and vinyl polysiloxane impression materials.
