Journal publications are scientific communications intended to convey research results, opinions, observations and hypothesis. Scientific research is conducted as a part of finding a solution to a problem, which includes issues concerned with public health and to identify new avenues in solving an existing area of concern. In the era of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, there is a great demand for research in clinical microbiology throughout the world. The potential of clinical microbiology as a subject cannot be defined in a single paragraph. Role of a clinical microbiologist in patient care assumes greater significance in recent times owing to many factors. First among the reasons include the menace of antimicrobial drug resistance. Global spread of microorganisms resistant to most of the antibiotics commonly used should be considered as an alarming sign in health care profession. Microorganisms have long been evolving mechanisms to counter human defenses and be successful in establishing infections. Only with keen interest and continuous investigation, that a microbiologist could predict microbial behavior and be successful in providing better patient care.

Dr Venkataramana Kandi M.Sc., PhD, FAGE, MAMS. Elected as Member (MAMS) of National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) (2017). He is a member of Indian Association of Medical Microbiologists (IAMM), Association of Microbiologists of India (AMI), and Asian Council for Science Editors (ASCE) (2015). Has 130 papers with more than 550 citations.
