Buccoadhesive bilayer drug delivery Systems offers a simple and practical approach to achieve increased bioavailability, avoids first pass metabolism and to modify drug release profiles essential for controlled, site specific and localized drug action. Carvedilol used for the treatment of hypertension as buccal tablet can fasten the absorption by buccal region and bypass first pass metabolism. Thereby frequency of drug administration can be reduced and it can be economic for patients suffered by hypertension.
