While colonoscopy is the gold standard for colorectal cancer screening, its compliance is low due to the invasive nature of the procedure. Wireless Capsule Endoscopy is an excellent alternative that meets greater patient acceptance, since it is less invasive and almost painless. One of the major problems of the commercially available capsules is the inability to distend the colon lumen. In the proposed solution, the patient swallows the insufflation capsule, which uses a localization system and embodies a triggering mechanism of a biocompatible reaction. When the colon is reached and the capsule mechanism insufflate the colon, the endoscopist can easily perform capsule colonoscopy.
