Based on the analysis and synthesis of a vast amount of information and studies from the literature, this book outlines the essential aspects and the guiding principles related to normal skin anatomy and physiology, histopathology and physiopathology of burned wounds, physiopathology of wound healing, prevention and treatment of scars, classification and assessment of wounds, assessment of the depth of burns, debridement methods, diagnostic and treatment principles of wound infection, moist wound therapy, antiseptic substances, topical agents classified by origin, complementary physical methods, surgical treatment and skin substitutes, local treatment strategy for burns and also systematic approach to wound management, through proper wound bed preparation.
