Ultrasound has made practice of Obstetrics easier. Sonologists are on the look out for newer measurements to improve the accuracy of gestational age measurement.This book explores the possibility of using placental thickness as a new biometric parameter. This is based on a study comparing the placental thickness at different periods of gestation. This study has shown a linear relation between placental thickness at the site of cord insertion and gestational age.

Dr.KrishnaPriya Leela is practising Obstetrics and Gynaecology in India for past 12 years.She finished her M.S in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from Government Medical College,Thiruvananthapuram,Kerala and Diplomate of National Board from National Board of Examination,New Delhi.She is at present teaching in PSG IMSR,Tamilnadu.
