Development Administration in Nigeria has been written in response to strong demands, especially by the students of public administration in universities and other higher institutions for materials in the discipline. The first chapter of the text explores the meaning of the concept as well as streams of events favouring its evolution. Chapter two focuses on key issues including development, underdevelopment, growth and modernisation while chapter three discusses the environments of the discipline. The book reviews the experience of Nigeria in development planning, highlighting the achievements and challenges of each plan in chapter four. Chapter five addresses poverty reduction programmes in the country, focusing on the National Poverty Eradication Programme of 2001. Chapter six discusses reforms in the Nigerian public service, highlighting salient issues in the reforms. The text has been written in lucid and intelligible manner for its audience.

About the Author:Adam A. Anyebe is Professor of Public Administration, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria- Nigeria. He has authored a number of books and monographs, and has been contributing articles to academic journals both locally and internationally.
