Beschreibung

Cognitive radio is a technology used to solve the sacristy problem in the spectrum and it is the future of 4G and 5G communication systems. One of the major problems in such technology is the high energy consumption especially during the spectrum sensing. In this book, the problem of energy consumption is explained and analyzed deeply. The book consists of four parts and ten chapters. The first part provides information about the concepts of cognitive radio, spectrum sensing and sharing techniques, and data fusion and fusion rules. The second part discusses the energy consumption problem in spectrum sensing cognitive radio and presents the methods to improve it. This part also explains the design of energy efficient methods in spectrum sensing which are based on single stage and two stages sensing. The third part presents the simulation results and performance evaluation of energy efficient spectrum sensing methods mentioned in the second part. The fourth part gives the guidelines and steps should be followed for hardware implementation of the spectrum sensing methods using Altera-Cyclone family Field Programmable Gate Array boards with Quartus II as software design tool.
