This book reviewed the existing studies which have established that there are methodological issues and gaps that need to be filled by the future researchers. Most of the scholars developed own and used Internet-enabled software for exploration of big data in the new media. The review also showed that majority of the scholars found it difficult to select appropriate samples using probability procedure. The focus was largely shifted to non-probability procedure. On the research trends, the scholars exclusively focused on relationship and politics at the expense of news and business. The researchers developed of personal data collection and analysis tools indicate an existing problem in terms of availability of the right tools. These issues and trends have created gaps for potential scholars in the field to conduct studies that would contribute to the knowledge base in big data. The following areas are proffered: Exploration of big data in news websites with specific reference to socio-economic and political issues or events. The interplay between data on websites and social networking sites of news medias websites. Categorization of news patterns that dominate the websites.

Bisallah Hashim Ibrahim is a doctoral student while Owolabi Olumide is a Professor of computer science. Both are senior academics with the department of Computer Science of University of Abuja, Nigeria. They are currently engaged in Big Data and Machine Learning algorithms research. They have a large number of published academic journals.
