This book is very helpful to know the liquid crystal compounds for MSc Chemistry students and research scholar. Terminal groups present in a molecule have their own importance because of their polarity. It has been found that terminally substituted compounds exhibit more stable mesophases than do un-substituted mesogenic compounds. Any terminal group, which increases the molecular polarizability, without significantly increasing the molecular breadth, increases the thermal stability of the resulting mesophase.

Dr. Hemantkumar Niranjanbhai Patel is working as an assistant professor in Shri Maneklal M Patel Institute of Sciences and Research, Kadi Sarva Vishvavidyalaya Gandhinagar. His research area is in liquid crystal. He is having 16 years of teaching and 3 years of industrial experience. He is PhD supervisor and currently guiding 4 students.
