The subject matter presented in the book is sufficiently comprehensive and the knowledge gained through it will permit wide ramification in predicting the various physico-chemical, mineralogical, morphological features of the fly ash particles. With growing awareness amongst the environmental management statutory body, planners, thermal power plant engineers and general public as well, for proper utilization of fly ash - a coal combustion byproduct, it has become necessary to review the whole situation and become necessary to develop an integrated method for characterization of fly ash and its subsequent utilization.

Dr. Ruma Rano obtained M.Sc. in Chemistry form V.B.U, Hazaribag in 1999, M.Phil.(Applied Chemistry) from ISM, Dhanbad in 2001 and Ph.D. from ISM, Dhanbad in 2006. Her area of interest is Characterisation and Utilisation of Environmental solid waste materials. She is working as Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, NIT Silchar since 2007.
