The class of organic compounds, Schiff base, which is also known as anil, azomethine or imine, has acquired a place of prime importance in the subject of coordination chemistry due to its varied applications, when utilized as ligand in the formation of metal complexes. The Schiff bases act as good ligands forming the complexes with various metal ions due to their proton donating ability and number of bonding sites.
