This book is based on the synthesis of Zn-Al layered double hydroxide (LDH) and its different composites for antimicrobial applications. There are two types of composites i.e. organic-LDH composite and inorganic-LDH composite. In case of organic-LDH composites, two types of composites are synthesized. In one set synthetic antimicrobial agents has been intercalated and in another set antifungal agent has been intercalated by various synthetic methods in between the interlamellar space of LDH. In case of inorganic-LDH composites, there are also two types of composites. In one set silver has been incorporated and in another set copper has been incorporated on the surface of LDH. In all the cases the composites are antibacterial in nature. The copper incorporated LDH can be used as cement add-ons in a particular ratio so that the mixture can be used as finishing layers of floors, water tanks etc. to give constant protection against microbes.

Dr. Geetanjali Mishra is working as Research Associate (RA) at Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS), Kolkata, India. She has completed her PhD in Chemical Sciences From CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Material Technology, Bhubaneswar, India. Her research interests include synthesis of inorganic composites and their applications.
