The book is devoted to bacterium Erwinia chrysanthemi causal agent of stalk rot of sorghum. The marked emphasis of the book includes (1) Characterization of E. chrysanthemi isolates, (2) Pathogenicity and inoculation methods for creating artificial epidemic under glass house conditions, (3) Pathogenic variability existing among E. chrysanthemi isolates under glasshouse conditions, (4) Genomic variability existing among E. chrysanthemi isolates (5) Antagonistic potential of biocontrol agents against test pathogen under in vitro and in vivo conditions, (6) Glasshouse and field evaluation of vermicompost colonized with biocontrol agents against test pathogen by pre-plant soil drenching method, (7) Screening of chemicals against the test pathogen under in vitro and in vivo conditions.

Dr. Bhupendra Singh Kharayat has earned his M.Sc. (2009) and Ph.D. (2013) in Plant Pathology from Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand (India). His research interests centered on Diagnosis of Plant Diseases, Microbial Taxonomy and Molecular Plant Pathology.
