The Book tried to cover and answer the major threat of the dry land agriculture and forestry i.e moisture deficiency because of high evaporation demand of the region and subsequent low infiltration rate of this black soils. Gravels have played a great role in improving infiltration rate as well as in reduction of surface evaporation. The farmers in general and foresters in particular can use this book as a reference material. The Author dedicated this book to those who work in the harsh environments of the dry lands

The author have joined Melkassa Agricultural Research center after completion of his BSc in plant science in 2004 and obtained his masters degree in soil science in 2010. since 2004, he has dedicated his life in solving agricultural problems of the drylands through participatory action research in areas of soil physics and soil chemistry.
