This book briefly describes the responses of autotrophic pico and nanoplankton in different physico-chemical changes in various aquatic ecosystems. Also deals with details a general overview of various plankton, classification, and its relevance in the food web. This will give an insight about the outline of plankton and its significance in the ecosystem. Detailed methodology for the collection,preservation, analysis and identification techniques for the autotrophic pico and nanoplankton groups using advanced and sophisticated instruments are discussed.This book overall provides a brief information about the smaller primary producers from selected Indian waters.

Arya P. Mohan, Ph.D graduate from CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography, Kochi, Kerala. She completed her Graduation and Post-Graduation in Botany from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala. She is currently engaged as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany at St. Teresa's College, Ernakulam, Kerala.
