Life Sciences are a discipline of science which is ever expanding in all directions and dimensions. The new revolution in biology is taking place. In Current Trends in Life Sciences both basic and applied aspects of Life Sciences research have been focused. The deciphering of human and other genomes has revolutionized biological research. There have been advances in regenerative medicine Therapies for genetic disorders that attack disease at their root cause are inciting. Better prospects are there for clean technology, advanced bio fuels and energy security. The logical step forward from plant biomonitors would be bioremediation, phytoremediation and phytomining. Isolation of natural drugs would augment a fast dwindling arsenal against multi drug resistant microbes. Crop plants with improved nutritive value, better field performance and increased shelf-life would be possible through genetic manipulation and plant tissue culture methods. There are major breakthroughs in Life Sciences fields such as gene therapy, bioengineering, stem cell culture, biochip technology, and transgenic plants and animals.The present book endeavors to highlight all these recent advances in Life Sciences.
