The cellular life cycle, also called the cell cycle, includes many processes necessary for successful self-replication. Study on cell cycle and cell division has always been a fundamental topic in cell biology. The primary focus of this book is to present an unbiased synthesis of modern views on both Amitotic and Mitotic cell divisions for the advanced undergraduates and beginning graduate student who needs a general understanding of molecular regulation. Though there is a touch of prokaryotic systems but all topics are mainly discussed in eukaryotes. Both plant and animal systems are included here because the comparative study of cell division events in plants, the pioneer life forms on earth, can only enhance our understanding of such events in late comer animal systems. This book may prove useful to cytologists, geneticists, biologists and those with a genuine interest in the key issues of cell division studies and provide an avenue for her/him to pursue knowledge and to interpret it.

Guest Faculty at Asansol Girls College, TDB College, KNI College and presently Assistant Professor of Zoology at MUC Women's College, Burdwan-713104, West Bengal, India. Research interest: Cancer Biology & Environmental Toxicological studies.
