In the present globalized context, speaking proficiency in English is an essential requisite for the engineering graduates apart from their technical, analytical and problem solving skills to meet the demands of the job market. They must also capitalize this credible tool of communication to be successful in their work place environment. In this regard this book provides a methodology to improve speaking proficiency using oral communication tasks (OCT). This research is a quasi-experimental study that seeks to investigate the effect of OCT on Indian engineering students to improve their oral proficiency. This book further highlights the significant role of pedagogical strategies in implementing the tasks to the learners. This book also addresses one of the long ongoing issues of overcoming them with aid of learning strategies in task performance.

Dr.S.Shantha Ravi is an Associate Professor of English at SRM Trichy Arts and Science College,Trichy, India. She has published articles in Task-based Learning and pedagogical strategies. Dr. Mekala Sethuraman is an Associate Professor of English at NIT-Trichy India. She has authored books and papers in Syllabus Design, Metacognition.
