Health insurance is becoming one of the increasing health financing mechanisms in Africa and Tanzania in particular. This book shows how countries that have achieved a good percentage of Universal Health Coverage like Rwanda and Ghana in Africa have managed to make it. The book also shows how the various health financing mechanisms specifically the community health insurance system, the private health insurance and the state funded health insurance can be used to address the health crisis in Africa. The book also explains of how Out of pocket mechanism is a major payment strategy and how it has promoted inequity in thee utilization of health services. Through this book the systems theory is used to explain how subscribers, health financing schemes and health service providers interact in the provision of health services.
Autorenporträt
Samanya John is a social worker working with Kampala International University. He holds a Master of Social Work degree from The Open University of Tanzania, a Master of Development Studies degree and a Bachelor of social work from Kampala International University. His field of interest mainly include: community development and health insurance.
