Beschreibung

This book has been written as a follow through to my educational research done for the fulfilment of a masters in health professional education: assessment and accreditation, FAIMER distance learning at Keele University School of medicine postgraduate studies. The study site was the University of Lusaka in Lusaka Zambia. The study sought to determine the feasibility of introducing academic service learning (ASL) into the public health curriculum. The explanatory theory generated indicated students valued placement experience and this should be incorporated within the semester and not outside of the academic calendar. However, students vulnerability and financial aspects should be considered. The study demonstrated that Zambian health professional institutions could benefit by adapting their curricula to include student community experience and the students evaluation should take place in communities within a semester.
