The book focuses on the women of Kashmir who have lost their fathers'', husbands'' and have to fend for themselves. The aim of the research was to understand the lives and struggles of these women. How they cope with their day to day lives. The difficulties they face and its repercussions to their health and mental health.The research is a combination of both qualitative and quantitative techniques so as to get an in depth insight of the respondents.The goal is to make these silent voices of the valley heard out loud.

The author has completed her Masters in Psychology, Panjab University as well as Masters in Social Work with a specialisation in Medical and Psychiatric Social Work, Tata Institute of Social Science. She has worked in the areas of health and mental health.
