The study examined the perception of students and administrators on staff performance appraisal. It examined how respondents perceive the appraisal in administrative duties in the polytechnics, challenges faced by administrators and students in the implementation of staff appraisal and factors that can promote or enhance the implementation of the appraisal in the polytechnics. The study sought to find out the nature of appraisal practiced in the polytechnics andhow it is affecting administrative work in the institutions. The study comes out with suggested solutions to challenges faced by both students and administrators. The study involved 340 respondents who were purposively sampled. A questionnaire was designed to collect data as well as an interview guide for additional information which might not be necessarily found by the use of the questionnaires alone. On the overall, the study revealed that in both locations, both students and administrators are aware of staff performance practices but the respondents gave several challenges faced by students and administrators in its implementation.
