Beschreibung

A bigger share of a womans income will be spent on food than a mans, an educated woman will improve the health and increase the probability of her children getting an education more than a man. During an undergraduate course in development economics, it became so clear to me; womens empowerment is the way to go if we want to enhance the living standards of the poorest. This is why I have written this thesis; if we improve womens education and empower women we will improve both her and her childrens health, creating a positive spiral. As I progressed with my thesis I realized it wasnt that simple. This thesis focuses on how womens situation in India effects the countries development, with respect to secondary education, female labor force participation and active population growth, measuring these variables effect on Human Development Index (HDI).
