Materialism is not a new concept. All the religious leaders as well as many researchers have discussed the negative side of the materialism. Materialism has become a major problem in the world.Because of the materialism people consume more and unnecessary things. This has become one of the major threats to the future of human survival. The purpose of this study to identify the antecedence and consequences of materialism among different ethnic groups in Sri Lanka.
