Beschreibung

Researchers have noted that peoples psychological reactions to the world around them can create wear and tear on their bodies that may eventually manifest themselves in physiological conditions such as high blood pressure, ulcers, headaches, and other health problems (Borg, 1990; Benbow and Jolley, 2002; Anshel, Sutarso and Jubenville, 2009). The conditions may also create psychological conditions of nervous tension, feelings of depression - all of which affect an individuals well being (McCormick and Ilgen, 1985). By definition, stress refers to the combination of physiological and psychological reactions that negatively affect an individual as a result of conditions in the environment. Antonious and Cooper (2005) define stress as a form of emotion, an automatized response to the perception of threat. A conclusion therefore may be drawn to the effect that, emotions could be the result of automatic subconscious appraisals of objects or situations.
