Beschreibung
Considered and discussed different aspects of the martensitic transformations: nucleation, characteristics of the transition, peculiarities, stipulated by the transformations, influence of the dimension factor and reversibility of the transformations. It is also considered such phenomena and properties, stipulated by the martensitic transformations, as shape memory effect, superelasticity, superplasticity, their dependences on the type of the martensitic transformations and possible fields of their application.

Doctor of science, professor, chief scientist of G.V. Kurdyumov Institute for Metal physics of the N.A.S. of Ukraine, laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine and two Prizes of the N.A.S. of Ukraine, author and co-author of near 170 articles and three monographs. Main directions of the investigations: phase transformations and properties.
