Bangladesh is one of the most climate vulnerable countries. Due to increasing frequency and intensity of climatic hazards, agriculture, aquaculture, biodiversity, livelihood, as well as social life are threatening in Bangladesh. As low-lying country, Bangladesh is heavily depends on aquaculture for livelihood and foreign revenues. Shrimp export is ranked number one among all others aquaculture. Shrimp is normally culture at the South-western coastal region of Bangladesh. But shrimp farming is going to be under thread due to frequent climatic hazards, such as cyclone, water logging, tidal surge, drought, etc. with changing climate parameters and also increasing diseases. Although the area of shrimp farming is increasing due to the land is going to unsuitable for rice production, the rate of shrimp production is not increasing simultaneously. Thus it is important to find out the existing conditions and case specific analyze for future strategy to ensure food safety and also adaptation against climate change.

After completed B.Sc (Hon's) in Environmental Science and Resource Management, and MS in Environmental Science in Bangladesh, Mrs Shazia Farzana received her Master Degree in Environmental Engineering from Chongqing University, China through China Government Scholarship. Now she is a PhD student at the City University of Hong Kong.
