Manpower planning provides the information and tools needed for decision makers to strategic decisions in getting and keeping the health workers as per requirement and making the best use of their skills within a health system that is affordable and sustainable. A need-based planning approach always attempts to estimate future health needs on the basis of the estimated health status of the population. Simulation modeling provides many insights that are practical for manpower planning. This book presents more realistic approach in the context of Indian scenario. The factors relating to Indian conditions, both expected and projected, have been taken into consideration in this book with a view to regulate the manpower supply-requirement gap, at any point of time.

Dr. N. K. Shamla is currently Associate Professor in SCMS Cochin School of Business, Kerala. Her areas of interest are Quantitative Analysis , Statistical Analysis and Operations Research. \\Dr. U. Faisal is Associate Professor & Head of the Department of Management Studies, Kannur University. He is also the Dean, Faculty of Management Studies.
