Keralas economy has been passing through the critical stage of transition that started a few decades ago. From the agrarian nature, Kerala economy was inch by inch moving over to the service driven nature without industrialisation. The author discerns the distinction that Kerala has achieved in the field of social infrastructure, poverty and demographic pattern. The book also picked out the exalted living standard, up surging and unique nature of urbanisation, achievements brought about by gulf remittance, and comparative success of sub-national governments of Kerala. This book raises concern over the weakening agriculture, poor industrial base, flimsy development experience, surging fiscal ticklers, comparative nature of the performance in decentralisation, insufficient background development for tourism, emerging issues in health, education and migration, and ascended unemployment.
Autorenporträt
Muhammed Salim. A.P is an Assistant Professor of Economics, M.E.S. Mampad College, University of Calicut since 2011. He was awarded KN Raj Fellowship by CDS, Kerala, India in 2016 to prepare teaching notes on Kerala economy. He has carried out a Short Term Project on international student mobility with the funding of the KSHEC, Kerala in 2014.
