Beschreibung

This study had two purposes. The first objective was to investigate the factors that shape the vulnerability context of households living in the Jacha informal settlement in Epworth near the City of Harare in Zimbabwe. Secondly, this study set out to gain an understanding of how households confront the challenge of limited water supply. The goal ultimately of this study was to provide information for policy makers and interested stakeholders on how to improve urban physical infrastructure such as safe water and sanitation for households living in informal settlements such as the Jacha informal settlement. This study was informed theoretically by the livelihood conceptual framework. This framework constitutes various elements which, for the purposes of this study included the vulnerability context, the livelihood assets households posses in coping with vulnerability contexts, the livelihood strategies as well as the livelihood outcomes.
