This book deals with gherkin cultivation under contract agreement in Karnataka State (India). The study makes an attempt to bring light on area, production, grade and Prices prevailing through contract farming for gherkin cultivation in Karnataka. The study also focuses on price mechanism and analysing the cost of cultivation and profit analysis. Since gherkin has high demand in overseas markets it was also important to study the resource use efficiency and factors influencing the farmers to enter into the contract sponsoring Companies in Karnataka. The study also deals with the contractual arrangements and farmers suggestion with respect to payment and inputs supply by the contract firms and also problems faced by the farmers in case of breach of contract in the study area of Karnataka. Dr.Vijayachandra Reddy.S born in Raichur in Karnataka State, India in 1980. He has received Ph.D. degree in Agricultural Economics from University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, Karnataka State, India in 2013. Presently he is working as Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Univ. of agri. sciences, Raichur.
