It outlines some of the challenges related to different community development approaches taken by different NGOs and how in some cases such approaches contradict and in the worst case scenario, the different approaches can be self defeating leading to poor community development outcomes. This is a must read manuscript for all those interested in NGO and related community development work. Reading through it, one gets the realization that community development work is not a walk in the park. So much has to be done, including the difficult attempt to bring together NGOs with competing approaches for the same community development outcomes. The manuscript provides a critical entry, discussion and indulging platform to understand, question and appreciate the complex dynamics of community development from an NGO fieldworker perspective.
