This book, Discourse on Mising and Karbi Folklore Genres, involves a critical investigation into the various folklore genres associated with two of the most culturally rich ethnic communities of Assam, i.e., the Misings (Miri) and the Karbis (Mikir) adopting a hermeneutic approach. It dwells exhaustively upon folklore genres like legends and myths pertaining to both the communities focusing upon their cosmogonies and worldviews; rites and rituals; shamanistic rhapsodies, mnemocultural practices and the philosophical implications supposed to be embodied in them. This book is designed to be a critical compendium for native as well as foreign scholars and researchers, this book also evaluates various folklore genres from eco-critical and feminist perspectives.
