Mike Evans hatte bereits reichlich Erfahrung im berühmten Cavern Club in der Heimatstadt der Beatles gesammelt und auch schon zwei Singles bei Decca vorzuweisen, als er sich mit dem Dichter Adrian Henri und dem zukünftigen Pink-Floyd- Gitarristen Andy Roberts zusammen tat. Sie traten als The Liverpool Scene auf und spielten 1969 bei Led Zeppelin und Bob Dylan im Vorprogramm.
