Meta-Narrative in the Movies investigates narrative theory through close analysis of films featuring stories and storytelling. The cinematic interpretations investigate the role of story creation in knowing ourselves and planning our future, in structuring social relationships, and in sharpening our experience of popular culture.

Joseph Kupfer is Professor of Philosophy at Iowa State University, USA, where he teaches aesthetics, medical ethics and philosophy of law. He has published on topics such as autonomy, lying, parenthood and the virtues. Recent work includes Prostitutes, Musicians and Self-Respect and Feminist Ethics in Film: Reconfiguring Care Through Cinema.
