This book deals with fundamental concepts and figures of literary multilingualism in different geocultural areas and historical eras of world literature. It also considers multilingualism within the media and through the media as such, including the relationship between verbal, visual and numeric forms of an overall `multilingual' communication. The book, whose articles are written in French, Italian, Spanish, English and German, is the second of four volumes conceived by the Research Group "Mapping Multilingualism in World Literature" of the International Association of Comparative Literature" (ICLA), in collaboration with international experts of Communication Theory and Mass Media.
