Innovative decumulation solutions with an attractive risk return profile are becoming more and more important in the current market environment. Current solutions are impacted by the changing demographic structure, the extreme low interest rate environment, as well as the increased level of debt in developed countries. This work gives a detailed description of why modern decumulation solutions are so important for todays retirees. Retirement solutions are discussed that can be offered by financial service companies. These solutions include investment, insurance, and risk-managment elements designed to provide holistic investment solutions for todays retirees. Decumulation solutions will play a major role in the upcoming years. There is a significantly increasing demand for innovative concepts and this work is only the starting point of the process.
