This book is designed to start conversations in teacher education circles about the practices we use for hiring new teachers. Historically, school jurisdictions have relied very heavily on brief interviews to select teachers, yet research by the authors shows that school administrators lack confidence in these interviews as approaches to help them select the strongest teachers. When the Interview is Not Enough offers a sequence of complementary strategies that could replace traditional strategies for teacher hiring and could support the professional skill development of administrators who take on this important task.
Autorenporträt
Nancy A. Maynes and Blaine E. Hatt are Associate Professors in the Schulich School of Education at Nipissing University. Both authors have done research into teacher hiring practices. This book reflects what they have each learned about effective hiring during many years in system and school administrative roles.
