Education is a crucial social institution. No human society can survive and prosper without a good system of education. HIV/AIDS pandemic is a threat to education as well as to all the other sectors of development. Education sector is negatively affected by HIV/AIDS in a similar manner the pandemic destroys the human body. This book analysis the impact of HIV/AIDS on formal educational achievement of learners. The author utilizes both quantitative and qualitative methodologies to investigate this phenomenon in an African contest. The book is a must read to students of education, sociology and other social sciences as well as policy makers in education, social development and health.

The author teaches Sociology of education at the University of Nairobi. He is also a visiting lecturer South Eastern Kenya and Machakos Universities. He holds BA (HONS), PGDE, Masters in Education, Masters in Sociology. He is also a PHD fellow University of Nairobi. He has interest in Educational,Social research and community transformation.
